Hampton University is asking alumni and friends to turn Homecoming 2025 into a giving rally with the theme “Come Back, Give Back,” linking the weekend’s traditions to scholarships, academic programs and campus improvements, according to a university announcement.
President Darrell K. Williams framed the push as a commitment to Hampton’s next century. “We’re linking that joy to purpose,” Williams said, urging supporters to pair attendance with donations that “transform lives and communities.”
Advancement leaders said ticket sales and participation fees are structured to support student aid, research and student-centered initiatives. Chief Advancement Officer Marc A. Newman called alumni, community and corporate backing “essential,” adding that participation rates—rather than dollars alone—signal the strength of Hampton’s network. U.S. News & World Report lists Hampton among the national leaders in alumni giving participation.
This year’s slate puts a premium on a signature waterfront experience. The ESCAPE Alumni Remixer, now a marquee draw along the Elizabeth River, returns with national artists, live stages and lounges. Hampton is partnering with Richmond-based JMI to expand production and hospitality. “Every touchpoint will reinforce Hampton pride,” said JMI CEO Kenneth Johnson.
The university launched a one-stop ticketing hub for the first time, allowing supporters to secure passes across events while contributing to institutional priorities.

Hampton projects more than 10,000 attendees across alumni, students, families and guests. The university describes Homecoming as both celebration and fundraiser—“a rallying point for unity” that ties participation to student success and campus growth.
